What happens to my funds if my booking cannot be confirmed?

When you place a booking through TourRadar, we initiate a pre-authorization on your credit card, PayPal account, or directly charge your iDEAL account for the payment amount. This process prepares for the final payment once your booking is confirmed.

If we can't confirm your booking:

  • Exploring alternatives: We will contact you through your Booking Conversation Page to discuss alternative tours or departure dates.

  • Cancellation of pre-authorization:

    • Credit card/PayPal: If no suitable alternatives are found or if you decide not to proceed, the pre-authorization of your funds will be canceled. This means the reserved amount will be released back into your account.
    • iDEAL: Since iDEAL payments are directly debited, if the booking cannot be confirmed, we will initiate a refund process immediately. The funds should return to your account within a few business days, depending on your bank’s processing time.
  • Refund timing:

    • Credit card/PayPal: The return of funds from a pre-authorization typically occurs within 3 to 7 business days, depending on your bank’s processing speed.
    • iDEAL: Refunds are usually processed quickly, but the exact timing can vary based on your bank.

Instant confirmations: For bookings that are confirmed immediately, the deposit or full payment will be charged directly from your credit/debit card, PayPal account, or through iDEAL.
