What happens if the tour operator cancels my tour?

We understand it can be disappointing when a tour is canceled. If this happens, here’s what you can expect and what steps to take.

Why a tour might be canceled

Tour operators may cancel tours for several reasons, including:

  • Safety concerns, such as natural disasters, political unrest, or health emergencies.

  • Other operational or unforeseen issues that prevent the tour from going ahead.

  • Minimum numbers are not met, where the group size required to run the tour hasn’t been reached.

Minimum numbers and guaranteed departures


  • Some operators offer guaranteed departures on certain dates, meaning the tour will run no matter how many travelers have booked.
  • When available, this will be shown next to specific dates in the Availability section of the tour page.

  • If you're unsure, you can ask the operator after booking to confirm if your tour date is guaranteed.

Note: Some operators include minimum traveler details in their Terms & Conditions.
Tip: Consider waiting to book non-refundable flights until your tour is confirmed as a guaranteed departure.

How cancellations are handled and what to do

If your tour is canceled, the operator will notify you directly through your Booking Conversation Page.

The operator will typically offer the following options, in line with their Terms & Conditions:

  • The option to reschedule to a new date
  • A refund for the canceled tour
  • The chance to explore similar alternatives

Here’s what to do once you’ve received your options:

  • Review your options and choose what works best for your plans.
  • Reply in the Booking Conversation Page to confirm how you'd like to proceed.
  • Keep an eye on your TourRadar account for updates or confirmations.
