How to identify and report suspicious messages

At TourRadar, your security is our top priority. While the vast majority of messages you receive are from genuine Tour Operators excited to host you, it is important to know how to spot fraudulent communications. This guide will help you identify suspicious messages and ensure your booking remains secure.

The Golden Rule: Keep it on the platform

The safest way to communicate and pay is always directly through the TourRadar Booking Conversation Page (BCP).

TourRadar will never ask you to pay via external links sent in a private message, email, or SMS. All legitimate payment requests will appear on your Booking Conversation Page as a payment schedule or an official payment prompt.

The TourRadar team also monitors the communication between you and the Tour Operator to ensure your safety.

Red flags: What to watch out for

If you receive a message from a Tour Operator or someone claiming to be TourRadar, be cautious if it includes any of the following:

  1. Requests for Credit Card Details: Never type your credit card number, CVV, or banking PIN into a form linked from a chat message or in response to a message.
  2. Urgency or Threats: Messages claiming your booking will be cancelled immediately if you don’t “verify” your payment details within a short time frame (e.g., “within 1 hour”).
  3. Off-Platform Payments: Requests to pay via bank transfer, Western Union, PayPal Friends & Family, or other platforms to “secure your spot” or “avoid fees.”
  4. Suspicious Links: Links that do not contain tourradar.com

Security Tip: Always hover your mouse over a link (or long-press on mobile) to see the actual URL destination before clicking. If it looks like tourradar-payment-verify.com or tourradar-service.net, do not click it.

Identifying official WhatsApp messages

We use WhatsApp to keep you updated on your adventure. However, scammers may try to impersonate us. Here is how to verify you are talking to the real TourRadar:

  1. Check the account that is sending you the message: The official TourRadar WhatsApp account has a verified badge next to the contact name. This indicates the account belongs to a verified business.
  2. Verify the Number: Check the contact info. If the account is using a personal mobile number or lacks a verified business profile, do not click any links they send.
  3. No Payment Links: We may send links to your booking conversation page, but we never send direct payment links on WhatsApp.

What to do if you suspect fraud

If you receive a suspicious message on your Booking Conversation Page, via email, or WhatsApp:

  1. Do NOT click any links.
  2. Do NOT reply to the message.
  3. Report it immediately.
      • On the Booking Conversation Page: Send us a message on the Booking Conversation Page.
      • Contact Support: Forward the suspicious message or a screenshot to our Customer Support team immediately via the Contact Us page.
  4. Contact us via Live Chat: Use the live chat feature on the TourRadar website to contact us
