Why do I have to Pay Upfront when an Adventure is 'On Request'?

If an adventure is almost fully booked or very close to the departure date, the adventure will generally be ‘On Request’. This means that in order to request a confirmed space on this adventure, TourRadar will need to process your full payment upfront because the adventure operator needs to send a request to their local offices to ensure that there is availability for each aspect of the adventure and will be confirming the services as they go. Adventure aspects that need to be confirmed include accommodation, activities, transportation, etc.

Because this is a manual process, it generally takes 2 to 4 business days for the adventure operator to receive a response from all their local suppliers. If there is 100% availability, you'll be booked and confirmed on the adventure straight away. If space is not available, a full refund will be issued. Once a request is submitted to the adventure operator, it is no longer possible to change your mind, as the operators will be confirming the services as they receive confirmation from their suppliers so cancellation fees will come into play if you choose to stop the request process.
